Job description
Responsibilities
-
Work according to a design brief and given brand guidelines, develop a new design language for a given client based on their brand strategy and build comprehensive rationales behind design decisions.
-
Be part of and contribute to improving our website delivery processes so that projects are delivered on time, our clients are satisfied and we feel proud of our work.
-
Follow the Articulate process to design websites for our clients.
-
Work collaboratively with the Pixels, our team of designers and developers and contribute high-quality, thoughtfully prepared work that’s easy to hand over and implement: clear, complete, and considerate of both design and development needs.
-
Apply best-practice research in UI/UX and data-driven websites to build modern marketing websites that generate leads.
-
Take initiative in anticipating client needs and suggesting improvements, with a mindset to go above and beyond for our clients.
-
Generate effective and creative design solutions, which help website users achieve a given task. These should be backed up by research and data.
-
Interact with clients proactively by being responsive and being one step ahead, including by delivering design work and client training through well structured documents, annotated mockups and helpful visuals to make complex ideas easy to understand.
-
Support our inbound marketing work with occasional marketing collateral design. This includes infographics, ebooks, case studies and CTAs.
-
Liaise with other departments and studio members, such as our team of marketing copywriters,as well as our senior management team, in order to deliver the best possible work.
-
Build an understanding of our clients’ strategy and business goals, in order to translate those into beautiful, functional and accessible designs.
Skills
-
Basic knowledge of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Illustrator, InDesign and Lightroom)
-
Basic knowledge of HubSpot, particularly building website pages, adding imagery, copy and featured images
-
A solid, foundational understanding of layout design, colour theory, composition, typography and UX/UI design —with the kind of geeky enthusiasm that shows you’ve explored beyond the basics.
-
Basic understanding of responsive designs and implications that design choices have on the development of a website
-
Communicate effectively with developers to ensure your designs are implemented as intended—while you won’t need to code, a solid understanding of how design translates to the web helps you make smart, feasible decisions and avoid common implementation pitfalls.
Competencies
-
Are inquisitive and curious to learn things that go far beyond your field of work, with a genuine interest in websites, technology and marketing.
-
Have great problem-solving skills and are able to think laterally and identify the right tools to help you be both creative and effective, in order to find solutions to a creative problem.
-
Have great attention to detail and a methodical approach to work - we’re all about processes and logical next steps!
-
Deliver work on time and communicate early if a given task requires more time.
-
Are able to work independently when necessary, but also understand how your role fits into the team. We do love bouncing creative ideas to one another, but also value the time each of us requires to get our work done.
-
Recognise that feedback is a gift and embrace it in an ego-less manner, whether it comes from your team leader, one of your colleagues or a client.
-
Are deeply passionate about website design, composition and UX/UI practices and constantly look for learning opportunities.
-
Are self-disciplined, proactive and unafraid of sharing new ideas within the company in a remote working setting.
-
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment (we often have multiple website projects running in parallel).
-
Great communication skills, both internally and in a client-facing environment.
